How Does Small Business Compete?

November 26, 2007

Black Friday… Beginning of the Shopping Season Up at 4:00 a.m. Coffee in hand, midnight finally falls and you’re left trying to pry that perfected “Thank you for coming” off your face. Traffic was good, but not what you seen when you turned on your local news and seen story after story of the thousands of shoppers stampeding each other to get that “perfect gift”.

Cyber Monday… Companies of all sizes large and small are coming up with “new” policies (again) to keep their staff productive and off the web sites offering those last minute deals. Yet that’s exactly what you were looking for. Just a small percentage of the millions of online shoppers to visit your store and give you a fighting chance over the e-commerce giants. There are estimates that $700,000,000 would be spent on Cyber Monday alone.

Online shopping has taken hold, and is here to stay, but how do you get your piece of the shopping net without hiring every SEO, CPC, CPM, EPM expert with no guarantee that shoppers will find your business or that your products will be seen any more or less. You have a lot of receipts to show a good effort; after all you have to spend money to make money right? Is the e-commerce Advertising and Marketing frenzy sending you back to the stone-age with your small to medium sized business?

Imagine being on the same page and the same playing field as the “Big Guy’s”. Your products are top of class, customer service is what customers crave, your pricing is right where it should be, and your return policy is a simple “I’m sorry you weren’t satisfied let me fix that for you”.

Does your business fit the online model?

Do you have an e-commerce site or are you a service oriented business, such as Health Care, Automotive, Beauty, or Restaurants? (Hard to get your oil changed through the mail)

Do you offer coupons or savings to bring in new customers? (Everyone loves to save money)

Do your products need to be displayed to generate excitement?

Does your business only cater to the locals?
